Low cost franchises, which a window cleaning franchise would be, typically do well in harsh recessions because folks have been laid off and need a business of their own, but cannot get financing and have little or no monies to put down. So, should you franchise your window-cleaning business?
The window washing and cleaning business is an interesting business model actually. Speaking of which, I need to clean my windows here, I am missing my picturesque view. I should call a company out to do them. Everyone likes to have clean windows and not everyone can easily make that happen, it's difficult to clean your own, and yet, a small service company is just a phone call away.
As a franchisor in the cleaning sector, we did quite well, but we never really got much into the window-washing franchising before I retired, and really today, with all the over regulation, lawyers suing franchisors, and considering low-cost franchises and all the liability, it's not really worth the risk. Ayn Rand was correct. So, too was DiLorenzo, Smoot, Ludwig von Mises, Friedman and a host of others.
It's getting worse in America. If we are to really fix things, and revive our economy in the US we need to stop making it so difficult to build businesses here in the states. Today, I am retired, I provide "no jobs" and watch, and laugh, I quit! Who is laughing now? Interesting isn't it. I win a little, being able to retire early having gotten mine, but really no one wins in the end. Of course, if you can't win, why play; socialist forget that.
So, if you ask if you should franchise your window-cleaning company, you might want to look into all the ramifications and risks first, please consider all this.
