Employee Training For New Franchisees Considered

Today in business there is a lot of employee turnover, much more than there was in our parent's day. Perhaps it is for this reason that I recommend that you ask the franchisor before purchasing a franchise how many employees you are allowed to take to the initial training. It makes sense that you will want to go and you will want to take someone in case of an emergency that is in your family.

It also makes sense to take two or three potential individuals that in the future might be the managers of your franchised outlet. However, some franchisors only allow two people to go to initial training and they charge extra for each additional person. Believe it or not this is one item on a franchise agreement that a franchisor is most likely to negotiate on, plus, it doesn't hurt to ask either way.

If you cannot get your franchisor to allow you to take more of your employees to the initial franchising training, then I recommend that you ask the franchisor if you can have your employees work in another franchised outlet, or a company owned location for one week. By doing this they will learn how the business is to be operated and see it all running first-hand.

One of the most important things in running an efficient franchise is to have good training. It is worth whatever it costs, and you should be considering taking as many people as possible to get trained. Please take training seriously in the franchise industry.
