The first thing that franchises offer is obviously a business idea. This business idea not only gives the new franchise owner an idea of what to start off with, but they give them very specific things that they can follow in order to accomplish the goals of that specific franchise. Things such as marketing ideas, decorations, what products you will be selling and how the employees should behave are all aspects of a franchise that the franchise owners will take care of for you. All of the nitty gritty details of a business are the things that people struggle with the most. So with a franchise they will already have a standard procedure for just about anything.
The downside to a franchise is that you really don't have a lot of room to be creative and voice your own opinion on things. Whatever the franchise owners say pretty much just goes. Although each individual franchise store is unique and special in its own way, most franchises require that you sell the exact same things as all of the other stores and that your store maintains the exact same feel as other stores.
This is so that customers are guaranteed to get the same thing when they walk into that franchise in Washington and in Georgia. They want things to be the same and they want customers to be treated the same. If you are the type of business owner who does not really enjoy following the rules and such, then a franchise might not be the right thing for you. However, if you do not feel like making up an entire business plan, then a franchise is just the perfect thing for you.
